Abdelgabar Mohieldin

Abdelgabar Mohieldin is a Verbatim Reporter and Translator with the Department of the General Assembly and Conference Management (DGACM) at United Nations Headquarters in New York. He has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for his dedication, achievements, and leadership in communications.

With decades of experience, Mr. Mohieldin served as a senior verbatim reporter and translator for the UN Security Council, the UN General Assembly, and their affiliated bodies from 2010 until his retirement last August. Beginning in June 2024, he rejoined the UN language service as a consultant. In recognition of his service, Mr. Mohieldin received the United Nations Secretary-General’s Long Service Award.

Prior to this appointment, he served as a lecturer in translation at the University of Khartoum in Sudan and other national universities. He previously worked as a senior editor and journalist in Sudan.

In 2024, he also joined the teaching staff of the MA Studies in Translation and Interpreting (MSTI) program in the Center for Publishing and Applied Liberal Arts at New York University. In this role, he designed and teaches a course titled “Translation and Interpreting for Intergovernmental Organizations (IGOs and NGOs).”

Mr. Mohieldin is the founder and director of the Tralingua Peace and Culture Foundation and Tralingua LLC, both based in the United States.
He holds a Master of Letters in Translation and a graduate diploma in translation, preceded by a double BA major in journalism and drama. In further training, he received certification in Artificial Intelligence from the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford and in Human Rights Consultancy from the U.S. Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights.

Mr. Mohieldin is also pursuing doctoral studies on the intersections of culture, cross-cultural translation, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding.
