Carmen Boullosa

Carmen Boullosa is the author of nineteen novels including The Book of Eve, Texas: The Great Theft, and Before, as well as collections of poetry, plays, and essays.

She has collaborated with visual artists and created artist’s books since the late 1970s. Her work has been exhibited at institutions including the Museo de Arte Moderno, the Carrillo Gil, MUNAL in Mexico, and the Sala Ruiz Picasso in Madrid.

Boullosa has received numerous fellowships and prizes including the Guggenheim Fellowship, the DAAD Fellowship, the Cullman Center Fellowship, and literary prizes in Mexico, Germany, and Spain. The television program “Nueva York” on CUNY-TV has won her seven New York Emmy Awards.

She has taught at Georgetown, Columbia, NYU, and other universities and is a Distinguished Lecturer at Macaulay Honors College, CUNY. Her archive is housed at the New York Public Library. She splits her time between Coyoacán and Brooklyn.
