Joanna Pocock

Joanna Pocock is the author of the travel memoir Surrender, which won the 2018 Fitzcarraldo Editions Essay Prize. Her following book, Greyhound, was published by Fitzcarraldo Editions and Soft Skull Press in August 2025. Greyhound has been shortlisted for a 2026 National Book Critics Circle Award in Criticism and the Sherborne Travel Writing Prize. Her writing has notably appeared in The NationThe New StatesmanOrionThe Times Literary Supplement and Guardian US. She lives in London where she teaches Creative Writing at the University of the Arts.
