Tanya Selvaratnam

Tanya Selvaratnam is an Emmy-nominated and multiple Webby-winning filmmaker; and the author of Assume Nothing: A Story of Intimate Violence and THE BIG LIE. She is the Senior Advisor on Gender Justice Narratives at the Pop Culture Collaborative. She has produced for the Vision & Justice Project, Aubin Pictures, Story Syndicate, Glamour Women of the Year, The Meteor, For Freedoms, and Ms. Foundation for Women. Her films have played on HBO, IFC, PBS, the New Yorker, and the Sundance Channel; and have premiered at Sundance, Berlin, Tribeca, Aspen Shortsfest, and SXSW. Tanya’s writing has been published in the New York Times, Vogue, ELLE, Cosmo, Glamour, CNN, NBC News, Daily Beast, and McSweeney’s Internet Tendency. She has moderated or presented at venues and conferences around the world, including the Aspen Ideas Festival, Skoll World Forum, Beijing Women’s Conference, Sundance Film Festival, World Health Organization, and TEDx. She is an Advisor to the Economic Hardship Reporting Project, Open Future Lab, Sankofa, Let It Ripple, and The DO School.
