Christine Pahigian

Biography

Christine Pahigian, Executive Director of Friends of Island Academy, has been an advocate for juvenile and criminal justice reform at direct service, policy and government levels for over 30 years.  She has created and developed a number of innovative and award-winning justice system programs in New York City, including those for juvenile offenders, girls and young women, parole violators and individuals with mental illness.  With special expertise in sentencing advocacy and reform, she has written several training manuals for juvenile justice and mental health professionals and has consulted and provided technical assistance to jurisdictions nationally.
