Born in 1970, Gerður Kristný is one of the leading voices of the vibrant Icelandic literary scene. Author of seven poetry volumes, she received the Icelandic Literature Award in 2010 for her cycle of poems Blóðhófnir (Bloodhoof) (Arc Publications), which was also nominated for the prestigious Nordic Literature Award. Her latest book published in English is Drápa: A Reykjavík Murder Mystery. Kristný participated in the International Writing Program’s fall residency in Iowa City in fall 2014.
