Biography

Jill Lepore is the David Woods Kemper ’41 Professor of American History at Harvard University. She is also a staff writer at The New Yorker. Her latest book is This America: The Case for the Nation (2019). Her 2018 book, These Truths: A History of the United States, is an international bestseller and was named one of TIME magazine’s top ten nonfiction books of the decade. Her next book, If Then: How the Simulmatics Corporation Invented the Future, will be published in 2020. In May 2020, she’ll also be releasing a podcast with Pushkin Industries. Lepore lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts with her husband and their three sons.

The live events of the 2020 World Voices Festival have been canceled due to concerns about the safety of participants and audiences during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In early May, we launched the 2020 digital World Voices Festival at pen.org/worldvoicesdigital. This ongoing digital version of the Festival includes a suite of podcasts, videos, interviews, and musical playlists, with live events and other features to be rolled out over the coming weeks.
